Fish crow
Corvus ossifragus
Almost everybody recognizes a crow when they see one, and most are familiar with their “Caw” calls. But most do not realize that we have two crow species here, and they can be difficult to tell apart. One can differentiate the Fish crow from the more widespread American crow by its voice. The Fish crow makes short nasal sounds, and also a two tone “uh-huh” call with an inflection. Listen out for these crows forming flocks around the lakes, they may also form mixed flocks with American crows.
